HIGH STORRS SCHOOL, CLOCK TOWER REFURBISHMENT
LEADWORK
The team at Stoic Roofing and Construction are thrilled to showcase our impressive refurbishment of this Grade II listed clock tower in Sheffield. The iconic structure has stood the test of time for nearly 100 years. Due to this, the structure has become severely weathered with its lead classing leaking due to several previous repairs. The team took on the task of restoring this local landmark with the care and precision required for a listed building.
Highlights:
Leadwork: The initial stages of the project involved completely stripping the old, damaged lead and applying a durable new lead overlay. The lead overlay will not only ensure the longevity of the structure but also significantly improve the clock's waterproofing capabilities.
Heritage Building: Throughout the process, we were committed to preserving the clock tower’s design and original construction methods, ensuring we adhered to all heritage building requirements.
Clock Restoration: As a finishing touch, the clock mechanism was repaired, and it now tells the correct time for the first time in years!
This stunning transformation not only secures the future of this historic clock tower but also restores a beloved feature of the High Storrs School campus. We’re proud to have delivered this project in collaboration with Minerva Learning Trust, ensuring this heritage asset can continue to stand the test of time.
