WAITROSE
FLAT & PITCHED ROOFS
The Waitrose store in Norwich had been experiencing severe water ingress to areas, which was causing damage internally. The existing single-ply membrane had reached the end of its serviceable life and there were high levels of blistering coupled with splits to the membrane at lap joints. Alongside the flat roofing works, there were numerous areas of repair to the pitched roofing.
Areas of the pitched roof contained asbestos, which required Stoic to follow the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH). In addition to the removal of asbestos, we were also working on a live site above one of the main entrances of the store during the winter months.
The Solution
We started with the flat roofing works, waterproofing was stripped to the deck with new insulation, a 3 layer felt system, new roof lights and access hatches. Flame free systems were used in the appropriate areas. The damaged roof tiles were replaced and a full clean of the pitched roofs to remove vegetation and clean the gutters leaving the roof with a new lease of life.
